Lady Gaga was hospitalized six times last year because of her extreme dieting.

The ‘Bad Romance’ singer’s former tour manager, David Ciemny, claims she would binge on junk food such as cakes and sweets, then not eat for weeks to fit into her costumes, once losing 20lbs between fittings for one of her outfits.

Describing her condition, David says in Maureen Callahan‘s new book ‘Poker Face: The Rise and Rise of Lady Gaga’, “When I say she was sick, I mean physically and mentally.”

Talent scout Wendy Starland added, “The pressure on her to lose weight was very high.”

Also in the book, David’s wife Angela claims she used to accompany Gaga on tour alongside her husband, and the ‘Paparazzi’ singer would cuddle up to her in bed before performances.

She said, “I would say, ‘Gaga, I have a husband to go home to. I’ll be in the room next door.’

“She’d call and text me, ‘I miss you, Ange, can you come back?’ So I would.

“We literally would do our make-up together every morning and get ready for bed together at night.”

Despite six hospital stints last year, the 24-year-old star’s health problems have continued into 2010, with her being forced to cancel four US shows in January suffering from an irregular heartbeat, brought on by exhaustion. She also broke down in New Zealand in March and has recently tested “borderline positive” for Lupus, a tissue disease which killed her aunt.

Gaga has previously admitted to being “insecure”, but claims she hides behind her onstage persona.

She said, “When I wake up in the morning, I feel just like any other insecure 24-year-old girl. Then I say, ‘B***h, you’re Lady Gaga, you get up and walk the walk today.”

The 42-year-old actress, who has twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, five, and three-year-old Henry with second husband Danny Moder – admits she couldn’t relate to author Elizabeth Gilbert’s decision to take a year-long sabbatical to travel the world in order to find herself after her divorce.

Julia, who portrays the writer in new movie ‘Eat, Pray, Love’ said, “I think we all go through phases of hardship. Hers is much bigger and broader, it’s really more of a crisis in her life. We all go through some variation of that, whether we interpret it as a bad weekend or a bad moment in life.

“I come from the ‘Pick yourself up, dust yourself off’ attitude, but I had empathy for what she was going through and how she decided to go about solving it.”

Despite raising three young children, the US actress insisted she didn’t find it difficult moving her family around the world to be with her while she filmed scenes in Italy, India and Bali, admitting that the director had a harder job.

She added to Empire magazine, “I can organise three kids. The director Ryan Murphy and his team had to organise an entire production and a lot of gear and lights. It’s a lot easier doing what I did.”

The ‘Gossip Girl’ star, who shot to fame after starring in ‘The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants’ at the age of 16, admitted she doesn’t want to “play it safe” in her professional life, as the projects she has worked on so far have been very “commercial”.

She explained, “I’m on a very commercial show, so the last thing I want to do is a commercial movie. I wanna take risks, I don’t wanna play it safe. I mean, I could probably make more money if I did more commercial projects. It would be nice to buy an apartment but I’m 22 and I don’t need to yet”

“I live in New York City. So, I’m able to differentiate between what I want and need and what I want more is to do great roles.”

The 23-year-old actress, who is currently dating ‘Gossip Girl’ co-star Penn Badgley, also revealed despite seeing her boyfriend on set on a daily basis, she considers their relationship to be just like any other.

She added to Britain’s Marie Claire magazine, “At the end of the day, you’re just in any relationship. How does anybody go to work every day and come home? You just do it and it either works or it doesn’t.”

Jim Toth, who has been dating the ‘Walk The Line’ actress for almost eight months, has allegedly been spotted in several Hollywood stores looking for the perfect ring to propose to the beauty with.

The insider added to America’s InTouch weekly magazine, “She never considered marrying Jake. She loved him, but wasn’t passionate about him. Jim is her ultimate guy.”

However, a friend of 34-year-old Reese – who married Ryan in 1999, divorcing seven years later – recently advised she is not ready to fully commit to the relationship until she is sure things will last.

They said, “Reese got married too young the first time, and she never wants to go through another divorce again. She wants to take things very slowly.”

She explained, “I do steal pillows from every single place I stay. It’s like ‘Princess and the Pea’ and I’m just laying on a bunch of pillows in a big room.

“When I was 17, I went to a really fancy hotel in Japan and stole everything. I was saying to the chambermaid, ‘More lotions please, more fancy chocolates please/’ ”

The brunette beauty has been traveling across the globe to promote her second studio album ‘Teenage Dream’ and revealed life on the road makes her feel as if she’s “growing another head”.

She added to BBC Radio One, “In the past four weeks alone I’ve been to Los Angeles, Malaysia, Singapore, London, Paris … I’m thankful to even be alive today. I feel like I’m growing another head somewhere – my body is definitely reacting to all the travelling. I’ve been zig-zagging all over the world.

Cameron Diaz is reportedly preparing to move in with Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez.

The ‘Knight and Day’ actress, who has been rumoured to be dating the baseball star since April, has started publicly referring to the sportsman as her boyfriend and the pair are even said to be making plans to decorate a home in Florida together.

A source told Life and Style magazine, “While having lunch at Morandi restaurant in New York on August 19, Cameron was calling A-Rod her boyfriend.

“They’re decorating his place in Miami together; now it can be a place the two of them think of as their home.”

Cameron and Alex, who has previously been linked with Kate Hudson and Madonna, have been reluctant to be pictured together in public, but have enjoyed a string of private dates together at a number of top New York restaurants.

The source added Alex appears to be having such a great effect on Cameron that she is “looking better than ever” and has an “in-love glow”.

The 38-year-old actress has previously credited her youthful appearance is down to “lots of sex”.

She said, “I don’t want to look 25 again. The fountain of youth for me, let’s see. I guess it’s exercise, healthy diet, lots of water, lots of laughter, lots of sex – yes, sex, we need that as human beings. It’s healthy, it’s natural, it’s what we are here to do!”

Cameron, who has previously dated Justin Timberlake and John Mayer, has remained tightlipped about her love life, however, preferring to state she is “in love with life”.

P. Diddy is being sued for age discrimination.

Francesca Spero, who claims she launched the hip-hop mogul’s career, is suing him for $12 million, alleging she was sacked by his firm Bad Boy for being old and disabled, after she was laid up with hip surgery in 2008.

According to the 51 year old’s legal claim, Diddy, real name Sean Combs, was “unsympathetic to her condition” and tried to push her out of the company.

In March 2010, she was fired and replaced by a woman much younger who “lacked the skill set and experience Spero brought to the position”.

Her lawyer Laurie Berke-Weiss said, “Francesca Spero opened the door for Combs’ career and, now that she’s 51, he showed her the door at Bad Boy.”

Spero says she first met Diddy in 1998, but didn’t start working for him until 10 years later when she helped him sign new song writers, get music clearances for corporate endorsements, execute Bad Boy’s $38 million deal with Warner Brothers and produce the MTV reality show ‘Making the Band’.

However, according to her lawsuit, after surgery to treat a hip misalignment, he allegedly said she earned too much money for “someone who could no longer keep up with his fast-paced lifestyle” and fired her.

Spero also admitted to checking herself into a substance abuse treatment facility in December 2008 after problems with prescription pain killers and alcohol.

However, she insisted she had been clean and sober from 1987 until two years ago after being treated for opiate addiction.

Diddy’s spokesperson could not be reached for comment.

Catherine Zeta-Jones was “furious” doctors failed to spot her husband’s throat cancer.

The 40-year-old actress has spoken out about her frustration after Michael Douglas’ repeated complaints of throat and ear pain did not lead to a walnut-sized tumour being discovered at the base of his tongue until three weeks ago.

She said, “It makes me furious they didn’t detect it earlier. He sought every option and nothing was found.”

However, the brunette beauty, who has 10-year-old son Dylan and seven-year-old daughter Carys with the actor, admits she was unsurprised when he was finally diagnosed with cancer.

She told People magazine, “It wasn’t a huge shock. I knew something was up. He knew something was up.”

The ‘Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps: star, who also has 31-year-old son Cameron with ex-wife Diandra, admitted earlier this week he had been having throat problems for a long time before his diagnosis.

He said, “It had been bothering me for a while. I went through a litany of doctors and tests.”

However, he was understanding about the length of time doctors took to discover his condition.

He said, “These things sometimes just don’t show up.”

The 65-year-old star, who is currently undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatment, has previously revealed he has an 80 per cent chance of surviving cancer.

Nicolas Cage has settled his $20 million lawsuit against his former business manager.

The 45-year-old actor, who owes over $14 million in unpaid taxes and has been forced to put several of his properties on the market, has dropped his action against Samuel J. Levin, who he alleged caused him huge financial losses by making bad investments.

The accountant had counter-sued for unpaid fees before it as announced on Wednesday, September 1, that the pair had settled their claim.

Terms of the settlement have been kept confidential, however a source revealed, “Nicolas is happy that it is resolved.”

In the original lawsuit filed in October 2009, the ‘Leaving Las Vegas’ star had claimed his business manager made reckless investments on his behalf, leaving him with a huge tax debt.

Court documents filed at the time state that over seven years Samuel “placed Cage in numerous highly speculative and risky real estate investments, resulting in Cage suffering catastrophic losses”.

In his countersuit, Samuel insisted the actor’s dire financial situation was due to his “compulsive, self-destructive spending,” including splurging on $33 million worth of property and 22 cars.

It is thought that Nicolas agreed to settle to prevent more embarrassing tales of his huge spending sprees being made public.

Legal documents have already revealed purchases of “15 palatial homes around the world, four yachts, an island in the Bahamas, a Gulfstream jet, millions of dollars in jewellery and art.”

Lindsay Lohan’s estranged father has denied selling her private diaries.

Michael Lohan has admitted to sending two of the entries, written when the troubled actress was a patient at the Cirque Lodge rehabilitation centre in Utah in 2007, to an entertainment news outlet but insists he did not seek any payment.

Explaining why he allowed the journal entries to be made public, he said, “They directly talk about how she said the doctors have her on the wrong medication and she mentioned how she wished the doctors would get the medication right.”

According to Michael, who received a cease and desist letter from Lindsay’s lawyer warning him against selling her personal belongings, he received the diaries when someone sent pages of his daughter’s diary to him from a fake address in Salt Lake City, Utah.

He added to website Hollyscoop, “I have the envelope and postmark dates to prove it.”

The ‘Machete’ actress, who served 13 days in jail and 22 days in rehab last month as part of a sentence for violating the terms of probation following a 2007 driving under the influence conviction, instructed her lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley to send the legal document to her estranged father warning she will seek damages if he sells any of her personal belongings.

However Michael, who has moved to Los Angeles in a bid to repair his relationship with his famous daughter, claimed the process was unnecessary.

He insisted, “I never meant to offer those for sale.”

The ‘Machete’ actress has repeatedly insisted she wants nothing more to do with her father following his repeated insistence she is addicted to prescription drugs.
